A beautiful pair of custom made Italian terracotta braziers or hand warmers in the shape of urns raised on a pedestal base with removable lids hand made by the finest craftsmen in Tuscany from the highest quality clay using centuries-old traditions and artisan techniques of the region. Each brazier features a male grotesque mask or face on two sides with palmette and acanthus leaves surrounding the bottom of the urn. The lids are adorned with artichoke finials that represent hope, peace, and prosperity. Braziers held burning picón or hot coals and were used by wealthy families as a means for warming their hands on cold nights. Today, instead of using hot coals as in the past, large candles can be placed inside the urn and the glowing light can be seen through the openings. These frost resistant terracotta urns will be a lovely addition to any garden, entrance, portico, or loggia.
